For decades, NASA has operated robots full of delicate scientific instruments used to study other worlds. Now, NASA engineers are developing a different kind of robot: a prototype designed to dig into lunar soil, climb over obstacles, and pull water and ice from the dirt for processing into usable resources. This robot must be able to operate in lower gravity, and work all day, every day for years.
